Be amazed at the wonder that is march5th00. One of the creators of the website, March wrote Happiness Test, House of Horrors, and FINALS WEEK. When not working on stories (he's never really working on stories), 28 year old march is working on his masters degree in social work and working with homeless mentally ill adults as a social worker. March also owns his own DJ Company so he doesn't have THAT MUCH time to play and criticize games and work on his story about cults. March also loves the website www.qwantz.com ,
Questions? Comments? can't get straight A's or F's? Feel free to PM (personal message) me at any time.

Storygames
You're about to play one of the first few games that ever existed at MAG - it was written in 2001 (I was 21). This is the game that brought us variables and was my first attempt at a game, and turned into a mini epic (that kept building on itself as we'd try to add new features to the website). You can beat it fast, or you can find all the hidden little things. Depending on your grades you get one of 5 endings... err... Hey George McDougal! You're in my Game!
Are you really happy?? Take this test and find out! (based on leading psychological theories of happiness).
*****Please Read*******Prepare yourself for the new wave of choose your own adventure games!! This is a movie, though poorly made, and at times way too dark despite our efforts to lighten the scenes, but it'll give you a good idea of what to expect in the future. To see the most I encourage you to maximize the size of the clips, and turn out the lights.Since this game is based off of movie clips, I suggest that those who decide to play have broadband hook up, but it's not a necessity to enjoy the game, just means faster loading times. Please LEAVE A COMMENT AT THE END and give us future movie ideas/ tell us if you like the concept. This game is not intended for anyone under the age of 13.

Dungeons and Dragoons!

Dungeons and Dragoons is a full interactive role playing adventure! Begin as a level one novice and work your way up to a master! Choose your class and your spells wisely... The dangers of this land are fierce! (Dungeons and dragoons is no play on the game Dungeons and Dragons... it's a... ummm... coincidence...)

Happiness! on 2/3/2010 9:50:18 AMI still love happiness test. I put it together when I was studying leading theories of happiness for a class. It's neat, if you do charity work you're expected to be more happy. If you pick that you have TONS of friends you're less happy than if you have a few close friends. spending all of your time with a significant other that you really care about makes you less happy than spending some of your time.
It's difficult to know the suggested right answers, but the only area I made up was the summary of your happiness level. I guess the number probably means more than anything.
anyways, just played it again and was spot on! you should check your happiness level today too!

I completely agree with you madglee!
I thought the movie had a lot of pros and cons, but number one on my con list was Mila. She's super hot, but not the right choice for that movie. Sounded like a valley girl.
Everything okay?

Glad to hear that things are going okay.
Your admins have moved on to some other projects, as many of you have.
We still do check in from time to time hoping to see a great story or two.
Let us know if there's anything we need to be attentive to. The only feature that seems worth it to me is the "print your story" feature but alexp and I haven't had a lot of lock brainstorming how to do that with our current system. I'll bring it back up.

How are things here at CYS?
Any major issues we should know about?

zero. there is a list of rules. I've posted them. You're aware of them.
No further discussion is necessary.
Rules
on 8/9/2008 9:07:05 PM
These are the forum rules. March has spoken. Thanks to those of you who assisted in helping me to complete this very extensive and perfect list.
CYS Forum Rules. (isn't this already in an article somewhere?)
1) Post in the appropriate forum. Newbie Central is for new people with questions about using CYS. The Lounge is off topic. The Parlor Room is for story discussion. The Writing Workshop is for feedback, suggestions, etc. on your story. The Reading Corner is for discussing all forms of literature. The Advanced Editor Forum is for discussing or asking questions about the advanced editor. The Feature Wishing Well is for submitting new ideas for the site. Bugs & Problems is for any bugs or errors you may come upon.2) Keep on topic. This means that if the discussion is about birds, you don't start talking about gorillas. Unless, of course, you are talking about gorillas in relation to birds.3) Vulgar language (e.g., shit, piss, cunt, fuck, motherfucker, cocksucker, and tits) is allowed, but should be used sparingly.4) Racism or inciting racism or hatred of race, ethnicity, sex, or gender is not allowed. This includes racist jokes. Posts breaking this rule will be deleted by a moderator.5) "Flaming," or personally attacking others on the forums is not allowed. This includes belittling and dismissive comments, such as "Whatever, JohnDoe, you're a moron and I think we all know that." When in doubt of what is "flaming," don't post.6) Use complete sentences and do not spam punctuation or smilies when you post. This is a writing site. An example of poor posting is: "W00t!!!!!!!!! dood that story r00ls!!!!! :P be nice im first time story is the BEST!!!!"7) Moderators will moderate based on these rules, not their own personal preferences. Following this rule will help alleviate disagreements, as the rules are clear and simple. Any disagreement between moderators will take place in private messages and not on public forums.8) This site is meant for all ages, but users should act maturely. Above all, use your common sense and have fun!

Sheesh!! Craziness! Listen you mods have the right to delete a post if you feel it's offensive. That's what it's about. You don't need a freakin vote - just delete it! Just don't be overly sensitive. If you're not sure then it's probably okay to leave the post or just ask another mod to take a look at it.
If there are racist / off color jokes on the site, I will personally delete them. Unless it's an off color joke about a UNIVERSALLY hated group. Like people who are into furries. Or people from IS. then it's totally cool. :)

I was fooling around with our engine, trying to push the limits of variables and how those would play into a story.
I never got far with my D&D style adventure - just simply created all of the variables, all of the abilities, then dropped it. It might be worth looking at for a second just to see how I did it.
http://www.chooseyourstory.com/story/Dungeons_and_Dragoons!.aspx (You will get an error message because it's not finished when you hit a dead end.)
The thought is I would have links that were simply : if the character had item: Ability: Climb Walls, then the link "climb the wall" would be available. If character had item: Spell / Fly, you would get the link "Fly over the wall" which would expend a daily magic point. If Character had STR > 12 and Item: Rope Kit, they would get the link "grapple over wall." If they had none of these things, they would have to find another way around.
It just looked like way too much work, so I encourage you to stick with one class if you do. Anyways, you can have some fun with it.
