Sam, his girlfriend Chris, and his best friend Jake are camping in the woods when they are attacked by a strange creature.
This is an extremely simple maze game with one goal- find your friends and get away from the creature.
There are five possible endings (not counting deaths.) One good, one not-so-good, and one special ending for each character.
Sam, Chris, and Jake have made it to the ranger station, but the creature is still outside.Help them discover what it is, and make their escape.
A tragic tale of love and loss.
You've inherited a haunted cottage. You wish to convince the ghost within to move on to the afterlife.
Show her items you find around the house to awaken her memories. But be careful, you have a limited amount of time, and not all memories are pleasant ones!
Hints- each item is tied to one of four emotions. Try to figure out and focus on specific feelings to obtain the "better" endings.
Extra special hint- try using items in other rooms besides the parlor.
There are, if I did this correctly, thirteen different endings to this game. Your score should correspond to the number ending you received. (Higher numbers are not necessarily better.)
Note- in order to fix the scoring bug, I had to put a blank page after the ending. When you click on "End Game and Leave Comments" you will go to an otherwise blank page titled "The End"-- this is not a bug. Click on End Game and Leave Comments again to access the comments screen.
Disclaimer- opinions expressed as to the nature of the afterlife are not necessarily those of the author or anyone else. If games about ghosts offend you, feel free to go enjoy someone else's game. I suggest 8 goals, 28 rolls. Unless dice games offend you.
You need a date for the homecoming dance! Can you find one in time?
Unwilling to allow one man unchecked power over the masses, yet fearful of creating the world's first democratic system, the Ancients of the kingdom of Sylas set up a a system both wise and fair.
"One man shall rule the land, but he will not be chosen by vote, nor by inheritance. The right to rule will be held in the hands of one intelligent and righteous man. This man will be called --- the KINGMAKER."
You are the Kingmaker. You will never rule this land as its King, but you will choose the man who does. Choose wisely and choose well, Kingmaker. The future of Sylas rests with you.
As you may have noticed, I recently changed my avatar to the WWF logo.
That got me thinking about pandas, and that made me feel like writing a fairly short and easy quiz about them.
So, here's a little quiz about the Giant Panda- hope you like it.
(I should mention, this is my first experiment with variables and pictures. . . hope it works.)
Fixed the scoring problem
A story told in pieces of memory, about a boy, the girl he loved, and snow.
Based on a Russian folk tale, this is the story of Prince Ivan and his quest for a magical creature known as the firebird.

This is a horror game. I've rated it 7 for Maturity due to some graphic descriptions of violence and possible language or sexuality.
This is the demo version- only the first three chapters are playable.

I was in the hospital for a while, and then not really able to use the computer too much, and then trying not to get fired from my job where everything was f-d up because I'd been gone on disability for so long.
Quick question - can the games be downloaded?
on 5/7/2010 8:44:40 AM
One of the things that originally attracted me to this site was the fact that the games can be played without downloading.
I can see where some people might like that capability, however, I don't think it's really something that could be practically implemented.
Are Video Games Art?

Victor Gijsber's "The Baron," "We the Giants," "Every Day the Same Dream," these are all technically games, and I would call them art because they make a statement about what it is to be a person. For each, the interactive aspect is *essential* to the creation of the experience.
Waiting for Godot

It's been a while since I read Waiting for Godot. Did you get there from Stoppard? I mean, into the whole Theatre of the Absurd thing.
Have you read Rhinoceros? I think that's probably my favorite absurdist play. According to WIkipedia, Durrenmatt is an absurdist, too. I really liked Die Physiker, but I don't know that I think it's all that similar to Godot or Rhinoceros.
Oh, speaking of things named Beckett, I really like the Anouilh play Becket. Also The Lark.

That site's got links to the major players in the debate, plus I like what Tycho has to say.

3j- totally understand your point. It's a very reasonable position. A subtitled movie is more like an auto-scrolling kinetic novel than a regular film.
I watch a lot of Japanese film, and especially for some anime, dub versions are notorious for mangling the dialogue to fit the screen action. Also, you get purists who want to hear what the "real" actor is supposed to sound like.
And yes, Hunger Games and Catching Fire are the two books currently out in the series. Battle Royale is a manga, I think it's 13 vols? And a film.
Also, the Steve Austin movie "The Condemned" is almost exactly a Battle Royale ripoff, except instead of cute high-schoolers, it's professional wrestlers playing convicts that try to kill each other.
(Hey, I'd watch a movie where Chiaki Kuriyama killed Steve Austin.)

First and second books are fantastic, third is a WTF moment, fourth is pretty good.
First book follows the series, but after that they're really really different.
